Night Rider bus services to be disruptedHollywood directors Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks have teamed up to produce a 10-part television mini-series, "The Pacific". They will be filming in Melbourne and other locations around Australia. It is a story about three United States marines during World War II and is a sequel to the blockbuster television series "Band of Brothers".
Filming is scheduled to take place in Flinders Street on Saturday 2nd February 2008, in the block between Swanston Street and Elizabeth Street.
Flinders Street will be closed from Friday 1 February 2008 from 22:00, to traffic between Exhibition Street and Queen Street, with limited provision for local access at either end, until 08:00 Sunday 3 February 2008.
St Kilda Road northbound lanes will also be closed to traffic, from Southbank Boulevard. Local access only applies, and Taxi services will operate from the Art Centre taxi rank, replacing the Flinders Street taxi rank.
The filming will mean that Night Rider services will be affected. The Department of Infrastructure informs us that all services will operate from Collins Street (as per NYE).
