Intinerant Tip-Truck Owner-Drivers Meeting
Monday 04 February 2008

Further to my last Newsletter I can report that I have met with VicRoads and raised the Union’s strong opposition to rate cutting after a cartage rate has been set for a particular job. VicRoads will raise the matter with Plant Hirers and the Civil Construction Industry.

Please record any instances and report them to the Union:

The TWU Cartage Policy as resolved by members is:

  • No rate cutting acceptable
  • Each job site will form a Drivers Site Committee to discuss site issues including safety and cartage condition
  • If inferior conditions are detected the Site Committee shall discuss with All drivers
  • A consensus over acceptable conditions will be raised with the site foreman or HS Representative
  • The TWU to be notified (phone Peter Clarke mobile number 0402 039 185 or 1300 727 614)
  • Work should cease until a TWU official arrives at the site

It is time to review all Rates.

A meeting will be held at The Union Office at 52 Rouse Street, Port Melbourne for ALL Itinerant Tip-Truck Owner Drivers on Monday 11 February 2008 at 10.00am.

Please attend this important meeting.
