TWU Hails Budget Transport Infrastructure Boost
Wednesday 14 May 2008

The Transport Workers Union has welcomed the Federal Budget’s injection of extra funds to fast-track transport infrastructure spending.

“With the national freight task growing exponentially, we can’t afford to drag our feet when it comes to providing the necessary infrastructure whether it’s road, rail, air or shipping,” said Mr. Noonan.

“All of the road projects in Victoria and Tasmania are worthy and necessary, but the TWU is especially pleased about the Nagambie by-pass in north-eastern Victoria.”

“This is another part of the Goulburn Valley Highway upgrade that we’ve been fighting for over more than a decade and will do much to improve both efficiency and safety on a key freight route.”
