Goulburn Valley Highway Upgrade - Nagambie BypassThe Goulburn Valley Highway is an important transport route, forming part of the national highway link between Melbourne and Brisbane. The Nagambie Bypass is the next stage of the upgrade of the Goulburn Valley Highway.
The Nagambie Bypass will extend the four-lane freeway route for 17 km to the east of Nagambie from Mitchellstown Road to Weir Road. The completion of the Bypass will enable drivers to travel on a freeway-standard road for 155 km from Melbourne to south of Shepparton.

However, given that the Union has been pursuing the duplication of the Goulburn Valley Highway between Seymour and Shepparton since 1998, it is pleasing that we are now talking about construction detail rather than if the Bypass will be built.
The Union will continue to press the issue and will keep members informed as arrangements for the Nagambie Bypass develop.

- easier access for residents and tourist to the Nagambie township;
- safer conditions due to reduced traffic; and
- greater local amenity.
