Victorian Bushfire TragedyThe TWU expresses its condolences to those affected by the devastating fires on the weekend. Our thoughts are with those who have tragically lost family and friends and the emergency services personnel and volunteers assisting the affected communities.
Unions, through the ACTU, have pledged $250,000 and are asking union members to support the Red Cross Appeal. Members can take up a collection in the workplace and ask employers to contribute.
The Transport Workers Union has pledged to work with the Victorian Transport Association to coordinate the transport and logitsics effort. We will monitor the transport situation and ensure that every effort is made to move goods and materials to the area in a cordinated and timely manner.
