In accordance with the registered rules of the Union, the Branch's Annual Report was presented at the Federal Council, held in Melbourne 18-21 May 2009.

The Federal Council is the supreme governing body of the Union with delegates representing all Branches of the TWU. The Victorian/Tasmanian Branch was given an opportunity to report on the key activities, campaigns and programs outlined in the Annual Report. The Federal Council also allows the State Branches to play an active role in developing national polices and strategies for the Union.
