TWU Working for Occupational Health Policy
The Union, in consultation with Delegates, has developed a policy document and guide for members dealing with occupational health. The Union recognises the need to address the health and well being of transport workers in order to reduce the number of incidents, injuries and deaths in the workplace.
Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, mental health, skin cancer and sleep apnoea are some of the health issues facing transport workers. The Union is showing leadership in the area of health by delivering confidential workplace screening. Direct worker consultation and involvement, particularly through participation in Healthbreak sponsored workplace screening, will ensure that members have better health outcomes.
The TWU Working for Occupational Health Policy was launched by Liberty Sanger of Maurice Blackburn at the Union’s annual Safety Seminar at Moonee Valley on the 28th of July. Maurice Blackburn are a strong supporter of the Union’s safety programs and assisted the Branch in developing this policy.
