Appointment of New Transport Minister
Wednesday 27 January 2010

As a Union which represents thousands of workers across the transport industry, in particular bus and taxi drivers who make up a significant portion of Victoria’s public transport system, I congratulate Martin Pakula on becoming the new Minister for Public Transport. Whilst we appreciate that the portfolio is a challenging one, we expect that with his previous Union and Ministerial experience that he will handle that challenge well.

We hope that Minister Pakula will show strong leadership in tackling serious infrastructure and service issues which are not only important to the commuting public but also our workers whose job it is to deliver essential goods and services to business, families and communities in a timely and safe manner.
