Truck company charged over driver fatigueA trucking company and three drivers have been penalised after being targeted by a VicRoads undercover operation into fatigue.
It has been reported that the company in Warragul was fined $30,000 without conviction, with $3630 costs, on charges that included failing to ensure drivers had minimum rest periods and possessing improper wirk records.
This is the first prosecution since "chain of resposnibility" laws were introduced.
Wayne Mader, Branch Secretary said "Truck and bus drivers need to take particular care with regard to driving hours and fatigue. No worker should be forced to meet unrealistic schedules."
