Minister Pallas announces crackdown on roadwork speed limits
Wednesday 25 August 2010

Minister Tim Pallas announced today that there would be a crackdown on inappropriate roadwork speed limits throughout the State of Victoria.

The Minister acknowledged that these signs were important to protect workers and provide safe conditions for motorists and crews, however, he also said that some signage was being left in place too long or when work was finished.

A Traffic Management Code of Practice comes into play on 1 September 2010 to deal with issues such as electronic message board use, roadwork speed limits and provision for cyclist and pedestrians around worksites.

Members and the community can call VicRoads on 13 11 70 to report hazards, faulty signs or other road issues.
