Gillard Labor Government to provide stability and opportunity
Tuesday 07 September 2010

The TWU welcomes the decision by the majority of the regional independents to back Julia Gillard and a Labor minority Government.

A Gillard Labor Government will provide both stable and effective government and the opportunity to pursue new opportunities.

A national broadband network, decent hospital and health care for all, better schools and training as well as a stronger economy that delivers job opportunities, are priorities for the new government.

Wayne Mader, Branch Secretary said ,“The continuation of a Gillard Labor Government gives working Australians the best opportunity for fairness in the workplace and better policies relating to education, health and the economy.”

“It was a Labor Government who got rid of Workchoices and it is in this government that working people should put their confidence,” said Mr. Mader.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has also endorsed a system of Safe Rates for truck drivers prior to the election. The Prime Minister said that she would put out an options paper on Safe Rates and the Union look forward to that discussion.
