The Union has been lobbying for some time for a system of safe rates, which allow truck drivers to receive full cost recovery for their work including flexible payments for rising fuel costs, as well as paid waiting times. |

The TWU has formed an important link to the EJ Whitten Foundation. The E.J. Whitten Foundation was established in 1995 to commemorate the memory of Ted Whitten Senior who passed away due to Prostate Cancer. If Ted had of commenced an annual check-up with his local doctor after turning 50 years of age and was more aware of the consequences of the disease, there is a strong chance he could still be with us today. Ted Whitten Jnr will be a guest speaker at the Union's annual Safety Seminar on 28 July 2009. |
